Standard adult full-time private-sector monthly minimum wage of EGP 7,000, set by the National Council of Wages effective 1 March 2025 (raised from EGP 6,000 in April 2024). This is the tier covering the largest group of workers. Weekly hours used = 48 per Egyptian Labour Law No. 12 of 2003 (max 8 hrs/day, 48 hrs/week). Caveats/tiers: (1) Businesses with fewer than 10 workers are exempt. (2) A separate part-time/temporary minimum of EGP 28/hour was introduced in the same decision. (3) Public-sector minimum wage is rising to EGP 8,000/month from July 2026, and a matching private-sector increase to EGP 8,000 is widely expected but had NOT been formally enacted as of 2026-06-19, so EGP 7,000 remains the current statutory private-sector rate. Annual periodic raise floor of 3% of social-insurance wage (min EGP 250/month) also applies.
