Government of Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada)Canada has no single national rate covering most workers; minimum wage is set by 13 provinces/territories, with a separate FEDERAL minimum wage that applies to federally regulated industries (banking, telecom, broadcasting, interprovincial transport, etc., ~6-10% of workers). Reported here is the federal minimum wage of CAD 18.15/hour, the de jure national statutory floor, effective 2026-04-01 (up from 17.75; indexed annually to prior-year CPI). Where a provincial/territorial rate is higher, federally regulated employers must pay the higher amount. Provincial/territorial general adult rates in 2026 range from CAD 15.00 (Alberta) to CAD 19.75 (Nunavut). Ontario, the most populous province (~40% of population), has a general rate of CAD 17.60/hour (rising to CAD 17.95 on 2026-10-01). All rates published natively per hour; no monthly conversion needed.
