Boletín Oficial del Estado (BOE) - Real Decreto 126/2026, de 18 de febrero (Ministerio de Trabajo y Economía Social)Spain's Salario Mínimo Interprofesional (SMI) for 2026 set by Real Decreto 126/2026 (BOE-A-2026-3815), published 19 Feb 2026, with retroactive effect from 1 Jan 2026. Standard adult full-time rate: EUR 1,221/month paid in 14 installments (EUR 17,094/year), equivalent to EUR 40.70/day, a 3.1% rise from the 2025 figure of EUR 1,184/month. Spain does NOT publish a general native hourly minimum; the headline figure is monthly. When expressed over 12 payments the annual total equals ~EUR 1,424.50/month, but the official monthly headline is EUR 1,221 in 14 payments. Statutory ordinary working time is a max of 40 hours/week (Art. 34 Estatuto de los Trabajadores). Sub-minima/special cases: temporary contracts of <=120 days with one employer must receive no less than EUR 57.82 per legal working day (includes proportional share of Sundays/holidays and extra bonuses); domestic workers paid by the hour (external regime) have a separate minimum of EUR 9.55/hour. The SMI applies to all sectors and ages without distinction. SMI is exempt from IRPF income tax.
